The primary responsibility of the English and Psychology Teacher is to deliver and promote English and Pyscology course at the middle and senior within the School. This includes a particular focus on developing a pathway to, and teaching, IB Diploma English and IGCSE A.
General
Teachers should ensure:
• Their delivery of the curriculum caters for students with varying learning styles and ensures best practice in pedagogy in English and Psychology
• They keep up-to-date with modern teaching practice
• They use appropriate learning styles for ESL students
• That they use a variety of assessment tasks for students to experience success and accurately assess and build levels of student achievement
Co-curricular responsibilities
• Teachers are expected to participate in co-curricular activities including sport, the arts and/or outdoor activities.
Administrative responsibilities
• Teachers are expected to maintain records of classroom attendance
• Report writing in accordance with School policy
• Attend staff and other administrative meetings as required
• Undertake evening study supervision as required
• Attend parent/teacher interviews and promotional events as required.
Classrooms and teachers are well-supported with resources such as classroom materials, teaching supplies. Our current teachers exhibit a combination of experiences, qualifications, and personality that fits with our mission. Therefore, the school is willing to consider a variety of experiences and education to locate the best candidate for our school. A comprehensive reading focused English program is key to the International Program
Requirements:
Native (Fluent) English speaker
PGCE or a Bachelor Degree (Master)
Demonstrated knowledge and at least two (2) years’ experience in teaching senior high school
classes (Equivalent IB, IGCSE or VCE experience preferred)
Ability to live within a foreign country for an extended period
Eligible to be granted a work visa for China
Ability to form a rapport with students and staff to build collaborative working relationships Good verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills
Bilingual Mandarin/English an advantage
Sensitivity to the requirements of working in an international setting with non-English speaking
families and colleagues.
Teaching licenses/certifications from home countries
Compensation and Benefits
